Email vs Social Media

RokStories

Which method do you use to share information on the Internet?

Interesting article: http://su.pr/95DLAO re: the use of email vs social media. From Marketing Sherpa.

In looking at the chart we see it's clear when people share inforamtion from the Internet, Email is the most widely used.  Mainly because adoption of social media, though steep is still low comparitively in it's pervasiveness to email.

M.S. states that social media may be the way to share short messages or heavey (like video) messages with friend, family and network.  And email becomes like, mail .. as it was in 1996.  In some ways social media is the new email (twitter - mainly). As it becomes important to communicate in short bursts.

Email is a long way from being replaced and both will evolve, and their stregnths built upon for the greater good as uses will push their communication channels to their extreme.
